Standard Broom Handle Thread Size

I tried several broom handles and handle extensions they don t thread in ore than one turn.

For brooms paint rollers extension poles. Acme standard and european thread types. But it is not the right pitch for standard broom handles. American broom and brush manufacturers make acme threaded handles and brushes.

In the united states most threaded handles for brooms paint rollers extension poles for window washing brushes and squeegees and so forth have threads inch in diameter 5 threads per inch acme form. However that doesn t seem to be the case. Every paint and broom stick i own will not work with the acme thread type i ve tried 2 3 and 4g but no luck. Does anyone out there have specs for threads on standard broom handles.

Besides painting i ve seen the same or similar standards used for brooms lightbulb grips pool tools and gutter cleaning poles. I was able to find a thread gauge and found that a standard broom handle thread is 3 4 5. If you check various brooms you will find several variations on the thread style. There are several variations in use.

Size of thread on broom handles. I had the same problem trying to find the most common thread for the pole extensions for paint rollers. I m trying to 3d print a widget and need to create a hole with a thread type for a standard paint stick. Another flavor is about 1 080 outer thread dia x 4 tpi.

The two types of handles are not interchangeable. Most popular is about 3 4 outer thread dia x 5 tpi. One standard shown here has a pitch of 5 threads per inch. For example you cannot use a handle with acme threads on a floor brush that has european threads.

Apparently there are two standards common in the usa both based on a 3 4 dowel 0 75 inch or 19mm. Our standard threaded handles are made of lacquered hardwood for consistent dependability and fits most brooms and brushes that utilize an acme type thread. One size does not fit. I am looking for information on the threads for a screw in wood handle pitch thread depth etc.

I thought that most us paint stick threads were acme 4 or 5 theads per inch. This is a nice tap well made and cuts nice threads.
